Europeana is the infrastructure supporting Europe's free digital library, museum and archive. Current EU funding for Europeana and related services is over €30million per year. Following a drastic cut from €9 billion to €1 billion in the budget for the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Europeana is now being asked to once again put the case for funding under revised guidelines. It will face severe competition from other digital services such as e-Justice, e-Health and Safer Internet.
#AllezCulture is a campaign to continue the funding of Europeana, look ahead for new partnerships, and open up collections to new audiences.
The recently published journal article: Nicholas, D., Clark, D., Rowlands, I. and Jamali, H. R., Information on the go: A case study of Europeana mobile users. J. Am. Soc. Inf. Sci., 64: pp1311–1322. July 2013 and a CIBER study commissioned by Europeana: Europeana 2012–2013: usage and performance update show how, following five years of progress in digital cultural programmes, Europeana continues to make cultural connections across Europe.
